"DO YOU WANT TO PLAY?"

"do you want to play?"
"Do you want to play?", said she as she brushed her last tooth. "Do you want to play?", said she as she sat down on the toilet, me helping her, holding her arm, so she won't slip. "Do you want to play?", said she too to the doctors and nurses coming in and out of her room. "Do you want to play?", she said on and on in her sleep.
"Do you want to play?" were the only words spoken to me by my @$%#_@# during her last days alive. People are talking about so many things - since now we have the time to address these subjects - but nobody is speaking about the effects on the mental health of those who had already been living day-to-day with mental illnesses. |
Everyone is suddenly sick, so now every thinks about health. By why did none of us do anything when those who needed it the most needed our help before? I don't have the answer. When @$%#_@# showed signs of deterioration before COVID-19 struck I was too busy living my life, speeding through highways and email and meetings and conversation... on my way to the top. I never reached the top. There is no top. The top is a lie. The top never existed and it never will. But my obsession prevented me from paying attention to those who needed it most. Now, @$%#_@# has passed. Not from CORONA.
